Summer in Dowse Square is back this year, shifting from Saturday lunchtime to Sunday afternoons 4 – 6pm, 10 February to 3 March. In front of The Dowse Art Museum, performers and bands are dropping by the Square offering free shows for the whole family, and there is some incredible talent on display. To go along with the music will be activities including chalk drawing, the big blue Imagination Playground, puppet shows, face painting and more.
The programme launches on Sunday 10 February with local musician, composer and performer, Jhan Lindsay. Inano Dance, Lower Hutt’s own internationally award winning Cook Islands dance company will perform. Completing the stellar line-up is Peyton Morete, a young musical star from Kāpiti.
The following Sundays will see RnB, jazz and Latin music, a children’s choir, and Lower Hutt’s own big brass band provide free entertainment. On the final day, 3 March, the wonderful Amba Holly will perform. Joining her are Miharo and band, and Horifyde, a popular local RnB group.
Food and fresh water from the Dowse Square fountains will keep everyone refreshed. Look after our planet and bring your own water bottle!
These are just a few of the fun free events that will be taking place throughout Summer in Dowse Square. Check out the In the Hutt Facebook page for more info.
