Santa at Christmas in the Dowse

Christmas in the Hutt 2019

Are the kids counting down to the big day already? We are.

Santa will make his first appearance on Friday night in Petone to kick off festivities. Plus there’s a big list for the whanau to choose from through to mid December. Pop-up carols come to a neighbourhood near you, seek out something special at a festive market or just sit back and watch a movie.

Kicking things off is the Petone Twilight Christmas Parade on Friday 22 November, 7pm on Jackson St. The parade travels from Buick St to Petone Ave, featuring over 50 floats from the local community, as well as Santa. You can then visit Santa in his grotto in the old jail building behind the historic police station – which is open through to the big day itself.

Santa@Sunset comes to McEwan Park on the Petone Foreshore, on Saturday 7 December with big stages full of pop-rock, a stellar line-up of orchestra, blues, rock and opera performances and Santa! All before the World’s Big Sleep Out – the global event with great entertainment from 9pm – 11pm.
