Ashleigh is a Lower Hutt Local who grew up in Wainuiomata with her two older brothers. She has been an artist most her life studying at The Learning Connexion where she took part in student exhibitions and also managing a couple too. Ashleigh has sold some of her work and been commissioned to do several pieces in recent years.
Greyscale exhibition, her first solo show, is on now in Lower Hutt and is unique in that all pieces are original ideas and photographs. It is a small series of black and white oil paintings.
“The series reflects my fascination with not only black & white imagery but also heavy contrasts and a range of textures (mostly manmade). For me, these artworks display how without dark, light is less breath-taking and without light, the dark all consuming.” says Ashleigh.
These bespoke pieces have been created using oil paints and this series has been developed over many years but has never been exhibited. This mini art exhibition is located in a pop-up container at Andrews Avenue, organised by About Space.
Take a look at her work online or come along to her exhibition where there will also be daily live painting from 12 – 1pm.
Where: Container @ Andrews Avenue
When: 17th-23rd June 10am-4pm
