Sound Bites² – The Friday Summer Music Series

From 12 Feb – 26 March in Andrews Ave 12pm – 2pm and from 19 Feb – 26 March in The Dowse Square 4pm – 6pm.

Sound Bites returns this summer to Lower Hutt on Andrews Avenue in the Southend of High Street and, new this year, to The Dowse Square. This annual summer activity has been renamed to Sound Bites² to highlight the second location – The Dowse Square.

Sound Bites² features local musicians performing on:

  • Andrews Avenue at lunchtime, so grab lunch from your fave café or bring your lunch along and enjoy some great local music
  • The Dowse Square for your Friday after work entertainment, a great way to enjoy the end of the work week

  • MARCH 5 – CANCELLED, due to Level 2 restrictions – Carl Webley 12pm-2pm – Andrews Ave then Andy Gatrell 4pm-6pm- The Dowse Square

12th February Week Two and 12th March Week Four – we welcome back again this year, Ainslie Allen.
Ainslie Allen is a winner of NZ Country Music Entertainer of Year 2018. Ainslie’s new Single ‘My Mum’ has debuted at #2 on the OZ Country Charts, and won Song of the Week. Recently Graduated from CMAA Academy of Country Music in Tamworth, Ainslie is regarded as having a contralto vocal range. With guitar in hand be sure to catch Ainslie’s set with a mix of cool country and hits of today.

19th  February Week Two and 19th March Week Five – Aaron Andis returns from week one and from last year. Aaron has orchestrated a great line up for the 2021 Sound Bites² lunch time music at Andrews Avenue.

Aaron is a professional musician, entertaining crowds around New Zealand and abroad. He has performed for the All Blacks, the Hurricanes and regularly plays for the Phoenix soccer team at after match functions! His one man band style delivers tasty vocals, soulful guitar licks and great grooves. Covering tunes ranging from Bruno Mars to Fleetwood Mac there’s bound to be something for all to enjoy.

26th February – Week Three – We welcome The Piano Man, Sam Hyde
“Play it Again, Sam!” is Sam Hyde’s Piano-Man show, featuring himself on piano & vocals. His solo act is a fresh & exciting blend of piano-man favourites – including recent ‘classics’ from the likes of Coldplay, Ed Sheeran & Calvin Harris, as well as honouring all-time greats such as Sir Elton John, Billy Joel & Toto”.

5th March – Week Four – We welcome back to Sound Bites², Carl Webley.
Carl is a versatile live-entertainer with a vast song-list and experience including performances at weddings, corporate functions, bars and private events. He can perform a high-energy show right through to finger-picked tunes for that more intimate occasion. Carl’s band ‘Uncle Monkey’ enjoys radio & video success with their songs and he wrote the ‘Phoenix’ football team supporter’s club anthem.

5th March week four and 26th March week Six – we welcome Andy Gartell back this year. Andy is a charismatic storyteller, he is the most prolific loop artist currently on Wellington’s musical scene. With his folk-pop sound, confessional songwriting and crowd-pleasing wit, locals have long been suspicious that Andy is, in fact, the lovechild of Ed Sheeran and Elton John.
