Increasing participation in how we make our decisions is an ongoing priority for us, because they influence the services available to you and the wellbeing of our entire community.
In 2019 we’re trying something different in place of a typical consultation approach for an annual plan. We don’t have any ‘showstopper’ changes from last year’s long term plan, so we can use flexibility in the Local Government Act that’s designed to help councils communicate in fresh ways.
A new interactive online forum was launched on 4 March, and is open until 15 April. We’re inviting you to share input on our current plans, as well as suggest new ideas. There’s a great mix of suggestions coming in, and we want more!
Those without internet access can participate in the forum (for free) at one of the public computers in any of our libraries or community hubs. Or, make direct contact with me, ward councillors or the community board or panel in each ward. We’re trialling the new online forum this year. If it goes well, we’ll keep using it. If you don’t participate, we won’t!
Until next time,
