Naylor Love Hutt City Charity Golf Tournament huge success

This year’s Naylor Love Hutt City Charity Golf Tournament has been a huge success, raising around $40,000 to support the work of the Te Awakairangi Access Trust (TAKA Trust).

A full field of 144 players took part on a fine and sunny day at Lower Hutt’s Shandon Golf Course on Friday Nov 30.

Over 30 volunteers donated their time to make the day possible, including staff from Hutt City Council and their families, some of the team from Youth Inspire.  A performance by young people from Taita Central School kicked off the proceedings. More than 50 businesses donated prizes and goods to support the event.

Cheryl Murray from the tournament organising committee says they’re thrilled with the support the event received from participants and local businesses.

“This event is going from strength to strength and this has been our best year yet. The great news is that Naylor Love have signed up for another two years as our naming rights sponsor. We can’t thank them enough,” she said.

“We couldn’t do it without all the great business that get in behind our cause, and the great staff from Hutt City Council and Youth Inspire who not only give up their time but bring along their family members to help out as well. It takes a great team spirit to make it happen.”

TAKA Trust has a goal of leveling the playing field by providing tamariki with access to recreation, sports, arts and literacy events and opportunities to enhance their learning and achievement.  The Trust’s current focus is on ensuring all children from Lower Hutt’s north eastern suburbs have free wifi access at home to their school’s secure managed network so that learning can continue after school hours.

TAKA Trust would like to thank all of the great people and organisations that supported this year’s event:
