Bike the Trail turns 10

On Sunday 3 March the fun, family-friendly bicycle ride Bike the Trail celebrates turning 10 years old. A summer staple, the free event sees riders make their way along the beautiful Hutt River Trail from either Harcourt Park in Upper Hutt or Stokes Valley, down to Petone.

Waiting at the end at Hikoikoi Reserve is a finish line atmosphere with music, games, a chill zone, coffee and BBQ. Free transport for riders and their bikes will take them back to the starts at Harcourt Park or Stokes Valley.

Registration is free, and first 50 registrants to pick up their registration pack from Mitre 10 MEGA Upper Hutt or Mitre 10 MEGA Petone will also receive a free gift. Visit the Bike the Trail website to register.

If you’re feeling creative you can join in on the colouring competition. There are weekly spot prizes up for grabs, and the winning entry in each age category gets a free entry to XRACE Lower Hutt. Just head to the Bike the Trail website to download the image, colour it in, fill out your details, and drop it off at any of the following locations during February to be in to win.

  • Any Hutt City Council or Upper Hutt City Council Library
  • Mitre 10 MEGA Upper Hutt
  • Mitre 10 MEGA Petone

Bike the Trail is organised by Hutt City Council, Upper Hutt City Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council, in partnership with Mitre 10 MEGA, Pelorus Trust and Les Mills.
