Naenae Bowling Club in Lower Hutt has received the exciting news their tender was successful to host the World Singles Champion of Champions tournament for the next two years (November 20 to 27 next year and from November 19 to 26 in 2022).
“Bowls New Zealand has a fine record of showcasing our sport at its finest,” said Gary Smith, chief executive of World Bowls.
“The New Zealand tender was successful against several other outstanding bids.”
Competitors will come from 28 different countries, bringing plenty of supporters and visitors to our region.
The World Singles event follows on from Naenae previously hosting the televised Bowls premier league and Bowls 3five finals along with several national tournaments.
“Our Bowling club is honoured to be selected as the Venue to host the 2021 and 2022 Champion of Champion Singles.” said Glenn McTaggart, president of the Naenae Bowling Club.
“For World Bowls and NZ Bowls to endorse our club as the Host is a credit to the facility and greens which we will provide for this event. The clubs management, staff and members should be proud of obtaining the hosting rights for the two years and we look forward to show casing a World Championship Event in our tremendous city.”
